Episode 13. featuring Common Unity

"Visionaries Before Millionaires"

Hey Ho. What’s up Throw listeners? Without further ado I bring you episode number 13. It’s been a week since Throw Slam Collective’s first slam of the season on January 19th and already so much has happened, I have learned so much and gone through so many different emotions. It was an extreme success and I think people actually enjoyed themselves. I have so many people to thank it’s overwhelming. On we go, gearing up for our next slam on February 16th featuring non other than one of the most recognized Performance Poets out of Montreal Mister Ian Ferrier. We are also starting to run workshops as we prepare for a few shows featuring poets in the Collective in March. Capital Slam Collective will be coming over from Ottawa to have a sleepover and perform with us in our Art Matters show and Danielle K.L. Gregiore, former director of Capital Slam Collective will be featuring at our March Slam. Things are crazy and busy and beautiful and I don’t really know how I’m doing it all, correction… how we are doing it all, but we are.

If you would like to be a part of the collective, please get in touch and I will add your email to the list so you can be informed about when our meetings/workshops are happening! We are not fronting some bullshit elitist attitude. For real yo! This is open open open and we need more poets, lyricists and dreamers if we want to make this even stronger, and of course more poets who want to slam and contend for a spot on the team we send to Calgary. We are pretty much declaring that even if the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word does not have enough spots to allow us to compete, we are getting our asses over there anyway, to represent, to experience, to be inspired and most importantly to throw our love at poets from across the nation. But of course, it’s not just about the competition or poetry, it’s about the community and collaborating by challenging and pushing each other to be better, to learn, to evolve as human beings yo! Alrite, ima stop cause I’m getting a bit preachy. But why should I stop if I feel it in my heart?

Common Unity ROCKED CAGIBI LAST SATURDAY NIGHT! They dealt with unfortunate sound issues like pro-stars. They are the nicest boys ever and I declare that if the love of my life doesn’t pan out in Australia (feel the conundrum here ;) ) then I’ma comin back and proposing to all three of these old grandpas cause I am definitely on the same drugs as them. Listen to the podcast and try to figure out what kind of intoxication I am talking about. Seriously guys, you make a little blonde anglo girl wanna grind a microphone like it’s a dildo. Yeap, I said it.
